Charles E. Wright, Jr.,
SEMS Founder
Charles E. Wright, Jr. is Founder and CEO of School Evaluation and Management
Services (SEMS), an information services firm dedicated to providing education stakeholders
with the necessary tools to improve school system and ultimately student performance.
Mr. Wright brings a wealth of insight to SEMS and its clients. His career balances
in-depth study of the education industry with strategic planning for leading organizations
in the corporate, philanthropic and public sectors.
Mr. Wright helped design
nationally focused education initiatives at the Ford Foundation. These initiatives
supported efforts to strengthen teacher, principal and superintendent training programs,
and build constituencies for K-12 school reform. At the Cleveland Foundation, Mr.
Wright worked with school personnel, civic and corporate leaders to improve the governance
structure of the Cleveland Municipal School District.
In addition to his extensive
experience in the education industry, Mr. Wright brings strong experiences from
the corporate sector. He worked on strategic planning initiatives for Fortune 500
companies with Salomon Smith Barney (SSB), a diversified financial services firm,
and the Mitchell Madison Group (MMG), a global management consulting firm. At SSB,
Mr. Wright participated in research, financings, and mergers across a broad range
of industries, including education. While at MMG, Mr. Wright was responsible for aiding
various companies in the development of corporate strategy and financial planning.
Mr.
Wright earned a J. D. from the University of Pennsylvania
Law School, a M. A. from Columbia University's Teachers
College, and a B. A. in Finance from Morehouse College.
