Our Mission
The SEMS mission is
to facilitate the transformation of K-12 school systems into service-oriented and
performance-driven systems that more effectively meet the diverse needs of children.
Our Philosophy
Our mission is based on the realization that K-12 school systems are undergoing
a transformation to performance-driven systems that seek to meet the individual needs
of children and communities. Understandably, this transformation requires a change
in the existing institutional culture and many business processes. These changes are
not happening in a vacuum, but rather they are occurring in the face of shifting student
enrollments, decaying facilities, shrinking budgets, complex labor relationships and
rising expectations from the public.
In order to properly assess
the effectiveness of school system performance, movement along the transformation
continuum must be understood, performance must be comprehensively measured, individual
and system capacities must be improved, and stakeholders must have an informed and
objective analysis of progress. At SEMS, we provide education stakeholders with solutions
that increase understanding and facilitate communication of progress, needs, and challenges
in a systemic manner.
With this knowledge, we
believe that school systems and stakeholders will be able to effectively meet
the individual needs of children and communities, and the rising expectations of the
public. Our objective at SEMS is to propel the transformation process of school systems
so that our nation's children will have the best opportunity for academic and social
success.
